Country & Town House Interiors Awards
We are thrilled to announce that our cleaner oceans Schools Project has garnered us the
championing Community Award at Country & Town House Magazine's recent Interiors Awards.
The award is given to the brand who considers stakeholders throughout the value chain and aims to improve the communities in which it works.
The Soho Cleaner Oceans Project is a pilot that aims to engage youngsters in sustainable thinking and design. We are so proud of this initiative, which builds on our pioneering Ocean Collection. Starting in March this year, schoolchildren from ten schools near our creative hub in Cornwall have learnt about the environment and recycling, undertaken beach cleans and then created their own light design, to be made from recycled plastics recovered from local beaches. The results were an array of beautiful, innovative and inspiring designs that were judged by a stellar panel of industry experts including Interior designer Gerry Apponyi and the Decorex Sustainability Task Force. Choosing a winner was an incredibly tough decision which caused much debate amongst the panel.
We are delighted to announce that the first recipient of our school's sustainability in design award is Emily from St Columb Minor Academy primary school. Keep an eye out for Emily’s winning design, which will be launched at Decorex in October, with the successful young designer in attendance. The fabulous little Bluebell will then join our Ocean Collection.
